Engineering manager
Pontus Burman
Engineering manager and founder of Papa Bravo. I take interim and advisory work in technology, product and programs, and I still build the products the company runs.
Based in Stockholm. More than twenty years of this, in listed groups and in faster product companies.
Experience
What the career has covered
I am Engineering Manager at Avanza, for two development teams, since December 2025. Before that: Program Manager at Euroclear, product and project leadership at Getinge, CTO at Northfork, interim Group CTO at Eniro Group, Head of Platform at Trustly, IT Director for Region North at Unilabs, CIO at MedHelp, and infrastructure leadership at Klarna. Earlier assignments include project and line management at Unibet.
Before the leadership roles, the foundation was technical: systems, infrastructure and consulting from the late 1990s, then project and people leadership. A one-year systems engineering education sits at the start of that. Later training includes SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager, completed in 2024.
The titles change. The work is to hold the technology agenda with the business, and to stay close to delivery. At Eniro that meant the management team, and a strategy presented to the board. At Unilabs it meant the regional IT budget. At MedHelp it meant reporting to the CEO.
Still close to the work
Advice that never meets a backlog, an incident or a user stays abstract. I still build and run My Star Day and Körpasset, alongside the consulting. A recommendation has to hold up against the architecture, the team, the release and the commercial side of a product.
So the assignments are wider than a vacant CTO or CIO chair. Transformation, product direction, how an organisation delivers, and an AI ambition that has to become something someone can operate.
